Atlin Lake offers exceptional boating opprtunities.

Motorboating, sailing, canoeing, and seakayaking are all popular disciplines.

However, one should be
aware of the potential harzardous situations one can face.

Strong winds while a thrill for the sailors, can be disastrous for small craft.

Consult the weatherforecasts. Be prepared.

Atlin Lake is not properly charted.
The only available maps are topographic maps scaled @1:50000 or 1:200000.

Shallow or barely emerging reefs are present along the shores as well in the middle of the lake: "4th island": is emergent at low water levels but will be submerged later in the summer.
A recommended rule of thumb is to stay 30-50m. away from shore.

In the last few years community volunteers have laid out some hazard buoys on the most lethal reefs in the town's vicinity.
However, constant vigilance is needed navigating Atlin Lake.
Atlin Lake is a glacier fed lake in the upper reaches of the Yukon River.
The water is VERY COLD. Canadian Coastguard approved flotation devices should be worn at all times.
Hypothermia is no joke and in case of an emergency you likely will have to rely on your own party to get out to safety.

The Community of Atlin offers two boatlaunches:
1: at the end of Rant Street
2: in the Brewery Bay Marina along McBride Blvrd.

Atlin has two marinas:
Brewery Bay Marina:
Marina & boat ramp, located at the north end of Atlin Bay, accessible where Discovery Avenue meets the lake. Dock space for boats and float planes available on a daily, weekly or annual basis. Call Archie Wiggins at 651-7542 for more information.
Marina - Norseman Adventures. For moorage call: 250 - 651 - 7535.
