Last update March 7, 2003

The Atlin District Board of Trade was incorporated in 1904, and we are proud to be the second oldest Board of Trade in Canada (Halifax was the first).

Atlin is unique in that we have no form of municipal government, nor any representation on a regional district. The Board of Trade has become one of Atlin's essential development organizations and liaison between Atlin residents and government. Many of Atlin's primary and basic services exist today because of past efforts of the Board of Trade.

The Board of Trade's mandate is to promote the economic, civic and social well-being of Atlin. We provide a number of services to our members, who include most of the business community and many individuals, but our organization provides benefits to the whole community through our many projects. The Board of Trade has a long and successful history of projects that have benefited the community in significant ways.

The Board of Trade welcomes new members - both individuals and businesses. The Board's mandate is to promote the civic, social and economic well-being of the Atlin region, and it does this in various ways including sponsoring community events and advertising, hosting business training and development programs and lobbying government.

Membership in the Board of Trade includes associate membership in the Yukon Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber has a group employer/employee insurance plan with life, disability, medical and dental coverage that is very affordable for entrepreneurs and their employees.

The annual fee for membership in the Board of Trade is $40 (of this, $5 is for membership in the Yukon Chamber). You do not have to be a business to join the Board of Trade - individuals are encouraged to join.

The Board meets on the first Tuesday of every month except the two mid-summer months, at 7:30, at the Atlin Recreation Centre (unless we have a dinner meeting with guest speakers at a restaurant). All are welcome to attend regular meetings.
